Audio of some ideas on the notion of an RDF/Semantic Web Repository for VistA software support
I had a conversation with some of the software architects for the next generation VA electronic health record last week, talking about a proposal to create a single semantic web/RDF repository for everything required to run an instance of VistA, into what I call the Foundation. Here is the audio recording of it. This is part of a broader theme I’m exploring called Meta VistA – looking at ways of extending the concepts that worked in VistA over the years, coupled with new technologies as they emerge. It turns out that Tim Berners-Lee’s vision of the Semantic Web is very similar to my original thinking in the design of VistA’s data dictionary. Conor Dowling has created a Semantic VistA model that demonstrates this.
