Taking out the grass

Published by under conservation

In case folks don’t know it, Southern California is facing a water crisis – my area (Olivenhain Municipal Water District) is facing a Stage II drought alert.  And even when we recover from this drought, our water supply is going to be restrictive.

I’ve been reviewing my water usage, and was shocked to discover how much water I have been putting on my lawn.  I’ve begun taking out much of my grass, and looking to redo my landscape with California native plants that are both drought- and fire-proof.

I just ran across this great video from some folks in Santa Barbara.  It’s wonderful music with sexy beautiful dancing girls, unbelievable singing, and great music.
